How to organize and run a Star Wars TTRPG Campaign

star wars universe

The Star Wars universe is particularly rich and expansive, especially when you take into account original creations and the many roleplaying games inspired by the saga.

To easily find all the information you need, good organization is essential, along with keeping only what is truly useful for your campaign.

Why use Lore for the Star Wars universe?

Lore, our worldbuilding software, is specifically designed to store and organize tabletop roleplaying game settings.

Thanks to its customizable template system, it can adapt to virtually any universe.

You can use Lore for a Star Wars roleplaying campaign such as Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, or Force and Destiny, as well as for fully homebrew sessions.

How to structure the Star Wars universe for a TTRPG

With Lore’s template system, you are completely free to organize the Star Wars universe however you like: characters, planets, cultures, and more.

Lore’s retroactive template system allows you to create a template for each type of element, then generate multiple pages based on the same model.

To help you get started, we have prepared a few examples.

Intergalactic Star Wars Planets

During your roleplaying campaign, players may end up traveling to many different planets. You might also want to reference certain locations to enrich your lore.

For each template, we recommend adding an image. This makes it much easier to visually identify each element.

You can also change the small icon at the top of the template. For example, we illustrated intergalactic planets with a planet icon, which makes perfect sense.

You can therefore create a dedicated template for intergalactic planets. Here, we have only created pages for Tatooine and Mandalore, but you can of course add many more planets and structure the pages however you see fit.

Species in Star Wars

In the Star Wars universe, you will encounter many different species, such as Jawas or Mirialans.

In this example, we created a template that includes two images, a short summary, a “runes” block with general information, and a text section focusing on the species’ society and culture.

Thanks to the “@” tagging feature, you can link different pages within your Lore.

For the Jawas, we linked their page to the planet Tatooine, as well as to their classification and their language.

Adding a Star Wars Map

Lore also allows you to add custom maps to your universe.

Please note that Lore does not create maps, it only lets you import them.

Here, we added the official Star Wars galaxy map. We placed the planets that are relevant to the setting and, more importantly, to the campaign we want to play. You can of course add other maps and schematics depending on your needs.

How to run a Star Wars Campaign with Tome

Once your Lore is fully developed, you can use Tome, our roleplaying game software. Tome allows you to structure your adventure using a system of arcs, chapters, and scenes.

You can also link your Lore pages directly to your scenes in Tome. Connecting the two tools helps keep your story streamlined while still giving you quick access to all the information you need.

Amsel Suite software has the advantage of adapting to any universe, whether it comes from a well-known license or entirely from your own imagination.
