How to use aliases in Tome and Lore?

What is an alias used for?
Aliases are a powerful new feature for characters, objects, locations, or any other element that may have multiple names. In Tome and Lore, you can create aliases to refer to the same entry in different ways.
Aliases are useful both for worldbuilders, who want to organize concepts under different names, and for Game Masters, who need to avoid revealing sensitive information to their players.
Adding an alias in Tome
In Tome, the campaign management software, aliases can be added to arcs, chapters, scenes, and memos.
To add an alias, click the three-dot menu on the right side of the screen and select Manage Aliases. You can then add as many aliases as you need.
Aliases have several practical uses in Tome. For example, memo entries can use aliases for characters, objects, and even locations.
For pages, aliases can help Game Masters guide players through a campaign more effectively.
When reading a text linked to an action, you can reference a location name that automatically redirects to the associated scene without revealing the scene’s actual title. This is particularly useful for avoiding spoilers.
For example, if an important scene takes place in Hong Kong, you can create an alias using the location name instead of the scene title, preventing players from learning what is about to happen before they reach that point in the story.
Adding an alias in Lore
In Lore, the worldbuilding software, aliases can be added to both template pages and map pins.
To create an alias, click the three-dot menu on the right side of the screen and select Manage Aliases. You can add as many aliases as you want to your pages and map pins.
Worldbuilding projects are often complex, and it's common for locations, characters, or even objects to be known by multiple names. Aliases are the perfect solution for managing this complexity.
For example, imagine you're creating a homebrew campaign inspired by the Marvel universe. You'll likely add Spider-Man as a character. But should you refer to the character as Spider-Man or Peter Parker?
With aliases, you don't have to choose. You can create a single character entry that contains all the information about both Spider-Man and Peter Parker, while allowing either name to lead back to the same page.
